CURVES :
diagonals:
diagonals in photography are used to focus on specific parts of the photo and avert the eyes to interesting details making it appealing to human nature. when to points intersect tension is created and the eye is drawn to this point.
In these pictures it shows the diagonals that lead all the way to the detailed and focused part of it for example in the top picture on the left has the road at a certain angle which in everyone else's eyes is just a beautiful picture but it is actually the diagonals pointing to the city in the background. As well as that , the picture in the bottom left is showing the bridge leading all the way to the back where that building is.
In the photograph on the right it shows the diagonal lines that are pointing to the dancers in the background and not in the foreground also showing where they will intersect meaning the dancers in the back are the focus of the image.

Figure to ground:
Figure to ground is the contrast between the background and foreground e.g. putting a black image on a white background for it to stand out.
leading lines :
leading lines refers to a composition technique whereby the viewer's eye is attracted directly to the principle subject in the image.
triangles:
Triangles in photography is when three parts of a picture link up to create a triangle for example in the picture on the right the boy is sitting on the floor watching something. the feet , hand at the back and his head all connect together creating a triangle. also in the picture at the top ; the end of the ship , the sea and the sky also connect to make a triangle.
